Why is alkaline water superior to other drinks?

13 Sep 2023

Do you feel that thirst, run to the kitchen to hydrate yourself, take a glass and fill it with? If you gave any answer other than water, I am sorry to tell you, but you unfortunately are damaging your health.

Nothing can be a substitute for water for your body. Much less industrialized drinks, full of sugar, dyes and other chemical components. Do you know why? More on this below...

Obesity and diseases

Let's start with an alarming data. Did you know that obesity kills more than hunger in the world today? Even though it seems impossible, this is what a survey conducted by the Global Health Burden, an organ linked to the World Health Organization, shows. According to this survey, for every person who dies of hunger / malnutrition, 3 people die in the world due to problems related to obesity.

And what is even more worrying is the fact that obesity is already considered a worldwide epidemic. Today, according to data from the Obesity Congress held in Vienna in 2018, 14% of the world's people suffer from being overweight and, amazingly, in 2045 a quarter of the entire world population will be obese, that is, 1 to every 4 people. Worse, 1 in 8 people will suffer from type 2 diabetes.

Obesity is responsible, directly or indirectly, for a multitude of problems and diseases such as respiratory failure, sleep apnea, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, liver function failure and even cancer.

The causes of obesity

Obesity can be caused by several physiological factors such as hormonal problems or side effects of medications. However, the most common cause of overweight is a poor diet. An unbalanced diet, in which more calories are consumed than necessary and expending that excess calories are not spent, is what’s 100% responsible for the accumulation of fat in the body.

One of the great villains of this equation is our modern lifestyle, because with the advent of industrialized foods, many foods have a much higher concentration of sugars, chemicals and fat, and as we eat more and more with this type of food, the number of obese people tends to increase. Do an exercise, take pictures from 40, 50 years ago and look for overweight people, it will be much more difficult to find them than in photos and videos today.

Why consume water and not other liquids?

Today, our focus will be on the most important nutrient for life, the one that makes up more than 70% of our body, water. Although food is made up of everything we eat, hydration is an even more fundamental part. You can live up to 3 weeks without eating, but without drinking water you can only live 3 days. It's quite a difference, isn't it?

But, many people always tell us that hydration is important and that we can drink any beverage. What we often hear is that it’s  important to be hydrated no matter how or with what. These people could not be more wrong. To quench your thirst the only correct solution is just water, and I explain why.

One of the major predictions for this obesity epidemic is precisely the substitution of water for sweetened drinks, studies carried out by the English food science researcher Barry Michael Popkin point to this path. According to him, the fact that we increasingly stop drinking pure water and start consuming industrialized drinks is significantly increasing the accumulation of sugar and fat in the population.

Among these drinks we can not fail to mention the soft drinks, which have absurd levels of sugar, a can of a common soft drink can contain 40 grams of sugar, which is the same as you eat almost three full spoons of sugar. In addition, these drinks have chemical dyes and a very high acidity level, causing harm to the body.

The problem is so serious, the consumption of soft drinks is prohibited in schools in countries like France and England and has its sale prevented in all public or private schools in Brazil. After all, this drink is a major cause of obesity in children and adolescents, as evidenced by an article published in the American Journal of Public Health, one of the most prestigious scientific journals on public health in the USA.

Not all water is the same

Ok, we already know why industrialized drinks are so bad and how we should hydrate ourselves with water only, but did you know that not all water is the same? Seen with the naked eye, three glasses of water look the same, but on careful analysis they can be completely different. And that is the fundamental point of hydration.

Ordinary water is often full of chlorine (which is a very important substance in the pre-treatment of water to make it drinkable, but needs to be removed before consumption), acidic, low in minerals and has no real benefits.

The perfect water meets several important characteristics, it is pure (free of contaminants like chlorine and heavy metals)

  • it is rich in minerals (magnesium, potassium and calcium)
  • it is antioxidant (it makes your body suffer less with the symptoms of aging)
  • it is alkaline (it has a pH greater than 8.5, at least) it has negative PRAL (much more than alkaline
  • it must have an alkalizing power, help your body keep alkaline everything it needs to be),

This is what makes it perfect.

Drinking water is so important for a healthy diet that a study by Rebecca Muckelbauer, Giselle Sarganas, Anke Grüneis and Jacqueline Müller-Nordhorn, European nutrition experts, clearly demonstrated that water consumption is closely linked to weight loss, for example, those who consumed more water accumulated less weight and with more studies there was a significant loss of body mass in the test volunteers.

Ionized alkaline water

Thus, my recommendation for you who want to maintain your weight or are in the process of losing weight is to Drink a lot of ionized alkaline water Ionized alkaline water.

It is considered perfect as we have seen above, it meets all the necessary characteristics to become, even, a food supplement for you.

It is so pure, a good example is with this comparison. You've heard that organic foods are healthier, haven't you? Without contaminants and pesticides they are sought for, it is as if the alkaline ionized water was an organic water, very pure and healthy.

Having an ionizing filter in your home, is the only one capable of transforming ordinary water into the best water in the world, the perfect water for you to achieve the health and aesthetics you have always dreamed of.
